Henry County Hospital Partners with Henry County Arts Council
Recently The Henry County Arts Council partnered with the Henry County Hospital to acquire art work for the renovated hospital. The goals of the program were to collect artwork from local artists to enhance the visitor and patient environment by complimenting the space with soothing and enriching images. Based on research evidence on the impact of art on clinical and behavioral outcomes of patients in hospital settings the hospital requested landscapes. A large variety of artwork was submitted by the artists of Henry County. On November 19th the hospital reviewed the work and selected several pieces for display at the hospital. Among those selected were paintings by Art Shumaker, photographs by Ed Peper, Shannon McDougle, Mary Fran Meekison and Melissa Harding, watercolor paintings and prints by Lew Bechtol, and a custom designed stained glass piece by Andy and Carol Small. The art work will be on display at the center until November 30th.
The Henry County Arts Council is excited to participate in this event and envisions a county where businesses, foundations and individuals will recognize the arts as complimentary to their civic agendas and support the development of a unique and vital civic environment.
The Center also promotes the art of our local artists by hosting a holiday show and sale during the month of November and December. We have a variety of unique artworks for sale in addition to our annual nut and candy sale, which make great gifts for clients and customers, so be sure to keep the Henry County Arts Center in mind for your gift giving needs.
The Henry County Arts Center offers a variety of art classes for both children and adults.
